HOW DOES IT FEEL?

If you had a tattoo then you will be fine with removing it...

I have heard in the past that the tattoo removal process is worse, than having the initial tattoo, yet most of my clients say that the sensation is comparable to having the tattoo. Common description includes the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Of course, the pain is uncomfortable, but it is bearable. You must remember that depending on the size of the tattoo, the laser removal process session is much quicker and faster than having the tattoo in the first place.

HOW DOES IT WORK...

Basically, laser tattoo removal works by delivering short, powerful pulses of laser energy to the tattoo, which shatters the ink particles. Lasers used during the tattoo removal process gradually fade the tattoo over a series of treatments.

The number of treatments depend on several factors, such as the colour, age, density of the tattoo but also where the tattoo is situated on the body.

Here at Faded Ink before any treatment takes place a full consultation and patch test will be carried out. The patch test determines how the skin reacts to the laser treatment but also gives you a good indication on how the full treatment will feel. The consultation and patch test are FREE of charge.

Faded Ink/Aftercare/FAQ: FAQ

DOES LASER REMOVAL HURT?

I have heard in the past that the tattoo removal process is worse, than having the tattoo, yet most of my clients say that the sensation is comparable. Common description includes the sensation of a rubber band snapping against your skin. Of course, the pain is uncomfortable, but it is bearable.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Costs at Faded Ink are reasonable, but I would need to see the tattoo during the FREE consulation to be able to provide costs

WILL IT SCAR?

Scarring is rare and the aftercare is very important. It also depends if any scarring was present from when the tattoo was originally done. It is very rare though

WILL MY TATTOO COMPLETELY FADE?

Complete removal is possible, but it all depends on several factors, such as age, density, colour, ink depth/type and position of the tattoo. We also need to consider your immune system and how well it takes, everyone is different

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL IT TAKE?

Every tattoo is different, therefore its hard to put an exact number of sessions each client will need, we also need to consider all the different factors. On average a small/medium tattoo can take anywhere between 6-10 sessions where as a colour tattoo can take a little longer.

AFTER MY SESSION THE AREA IS FEELING HOT, SORE & SWOLLEN, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

This is quite normal, apply a cold compress to minimise the feeling you are receiving.

I FEEL THE AREA IS NOT HEALING PROPERLY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If you are concerned in anyway or just need some advice and guidance then please contact the studio

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR THE AREA IN BETWEEN MY LASER REMOVAL SESSIONS?

Here are some great tips to help the recovery period, aftercare is important:

  1. Keep the area clean using only soap and water and pat dry not rub

  2. As hard as it maybe, do not pick the scab or allow it to be scraped as this can cause infection and possibly scarring

  3. Do not shave the area until fully healed

  4. Avoid prolonged contact with water, swimming and long soaks in the tub, as this will soften the scab

  5. Wear sunblock on the area for approx. 3 months after

  6. Do not wear make up on the area until fully healed

  7. Try not wear any tight clothing over the area as this can cause overheating and irritation, which can result in blistering and scarring

I hope the information provided is useful but please feel free to contact me, should you have any other questions/concerns. Thank you
